Sabostab
SABO is a leading supplier of polymer additives, and one of the largest manufacturers of HALS (Hindered Amine Light Stabilizers) globally. Our products add value by extending the lifetime of plastic materials, providing special effects through surface modification, and reducing the consumption of natural resources. As a result of our commitments to our customers and to the plastics industry, we have achieved steady growth since entering the market in 2007.
UV stabilisers/ absorbers for Coating applications
Plastribution Speciality Chemicals can offer a range of UV Stabilizers for different materials and applications. Here we present the grades most used in coating applications. HALS are radical scavengers therefor only effective on radical degradation mechanisms. UV absorbers are independent from degradation mechanisms.
UV 70 - Standard Low MW HALS
- High effectiveness and mobility in polymers
- High LS performance compared to other HALS
- Established product, relatively low cost solution
- Broad use in polyolefins and other substrates
- When combined with higher molecular weight HALS such as UV94 a synergistic performance can enhance results
- Available in durable, non-dusting granules (D50=0.79mm)
UV 65 - Standard Low MW HALS
- Liquid monomeric methylated HALS
- High effectiveness and mobility in polymers
- Less prone to interactions or discoloration as compared to UV70
- Main applications include PUR, ABS and other styrenic polymers, POM, flexible PVC, liquid masterbatch, Adhesives and Sealants (MS Polymer)
- Preferred solution for liquid systems
- Re classified as Reproductive toxicant-Cat 2, Hazard class H361f(Suspected of damaging fertility
UV26 – Differentiated Low MW HALS
- Low basicity / interaction when compared to other Low MW HALS
- Low colour HALS
- Less effective than other Low MW HALS
- Potential for use in liquid systems where UV65 cannot be used due to labelling restrictions
UV312 - Differential UV Absorber Oxanilide
- Oxanilide chemistry UV absorber with strong absorbance in the UV-B region
- Clear and lower colour when compared to benzotriazoles or benzophenones
- Highly compatible with polar polymers
- Non interacting/ non-discolouring with metal ions
- Low interference with optical brightners, photoinitiators
- Not classified under REACH as SVHC, no toxicity concerns unlike benzotriazoles
UV312 - Differential UV Absorber Oxanilide
- Formamidine class UV absorber
- Excellent UV absorption of high energy wavelength in the 300-350nm range
- Strong absorption of the polyurethane wavelength sensitive region
- Can combine with UV65 (HALS) for a synergistic effect
- Slightly yellow liquid with Mpt 27=28ºC
- Mainly used in PUR systems (footwear, integral skins and microcellular foam but also applicable for coatings, sealants and adhesives)
